Welcome to our catalogue number 105, which coincides with Spring Stampex where we can be found
on stand number 7. We look forward to meeting friends old and new so don’t hesitate to make
yourself known to us and say hello if you are visiting the show.
The Great Britain section this time commences with more than 30 Penny Blacks in good to very fine
used condition. The remaining line engraved issues are also well represented with 1840
Two pence
values, matched pairs of the 1d Black / Red and a nice range of 1841 imperforate Penny Reds with numbers
in Maltese cross cancels. The strip of four 1841 Two penny Blues with a superb ivory head is
most attractive. The 10d embossed stamp has always been more elusive used than the other two values
and there are three nice examples in this list if it is a gap you need to fill. Surface printed issues are also
well represented with both fine mint and CDS used examples available, which we know from past
experience always sell well. The Victorian and Edwardian high values in good to fine used condition include
several examples and the GB section continues thereafter with the usual range of interesting
material.
The Commonwealth and Foreign parts of the catalogue contain their usual wide spread of material.
New material is particularly evident for Australian States, nice ranges of unmounted mint France and
also some of the early exhibition miniature sheets of France that can be very difficult to locate in
fine condition. You will also find some Russian Zemstvo material, which we have not been able to offer
for some time.
Once again Anne has asked us to mention that we can and do re-use all stock cards returned to us
and you can help her beat the drum for a greener environment and earn green ‘brownie
points’ (apologies for the confusing terminology) with Anne if you return any empty cards to us. If you like save them
for several months to make it worthwhile for bonus points!
